Dar Almounah is a trading company in Berkel en Rodenrijs that brings Middle Eastern food to Dutch and European tables. Pickles and makdous, tahini and halawa, olives and spices, baklava and maamoul, sourced across Egypt, Türkiye and the Levant and imported for legal sale in the Netherlands and the EU. Alongside what it imports, the company builds brands of its own: Dar Almonh, Abak Damascus and Amster Sweet.
Two very different customers come through the same door. One buys for a weekend table. The other buys by the case for a shop. They do not browse the same way, they do not pay the same prices, and they do not all read the same language. Kept apart, that means two price lists, two conversations and two things to keep current. And house brands only build value if they are presented as brands, not as another line in an import list.
03 · Approach
Three calls shaped the store. The house brands were given their own space in the catalogue, so a customer meets the brand before the product. Language was treated as parity rather than translation: English, Arabic and Dutch each work as a complete shop, with prices in the currency the customer actually buys in. And retail and wholesale stay in one catalogue with trade pricing layered on top, so the company runs one shop instead of two. Built on WordPress and WooCommerce, so new products and new brands can be added from the inside.
